Sam Clarke - Maid of Honor
Sam, my younger sister, and I have shared a long history of me looking slightly amused and Sam looking terrified. (Just kidding; that was just for the picture.) Actually, we've shared a long history of keeping each other sane at most family events. Sam now attends college only a few hours north of where Derrick and I live in Florida, which I think is awesome... Because who wouldn't like it if their best friend lived only a few hours away?

Stephanie Fonseca
I met Steph in 2008, and we bonded almost instantly over a mutual dislike for racing. Steph was my college roommate, teammate, and running partner, and we spent so much time together that more than once, people on campus assumed that we were dating. I picked Steph to be in my bridal party because if Steph could help me with race nerves, a wedding should be a piece of cake. Also, I think Steph's pretty funny, and also think that she would be an excellent person to be on your side of a bar fight.

Erika Harkins
I met Erika when we were freshmen in high school at John Carroll, where we both started out as soccer players before eventually making the wonderful/horrendous decision to run cross country. We spent the last two years of high school basically inseparable, even running races side-by-side (and consequently being referred to as the "twin antelope" by local running websites). Now, most of our friendship consists of us meeting/traveling together around different parts of the country/world, and me generally trying to figure out if Erika ever sleeps. I asked Erika to be part of my bridal party because Erika is one of the few people with whom I would trust my life. And this is a wedding, after all. Shiz might get crazy.

Hannah Hallgarth
Hannah and I have known each other since our kindergarten days at Girl Scouts, where Hannah often referred to me as our "brownie troop nutcase." Somehow we became friends in eight grade anyway, and she has been one of my best friends ever since. I asked Hannah to be in my bridal party because Hannah has a way of making people feel at ease in most situations, and she also does a surprisingly realistic whale impression (which you never know when will come in handy).

Andrea McGann
I also met Andrea as a freshman on the John Carroll JV soccer team. We became friends pretty quickly, and I spent most of that year basically living at the McGanns' house as their fourth child. (And only partly because of her mom's cooking.) Andrea's parents later bought a Rita's in Dewey Beach, DE, where Andrea, our other friends, and I worked as "the Treat Team," so for a few years I literally lived with the McGanns in their beach house. I asked Andrea to be in my bridal party because she's a good friend who reminds me not to take things too seriously, and also because frankly, she has too many years of embarrassing stories to blackmail me with if I didn't. (That last part was a joke. Mostly.)
